A Scottish Wedding in St Andrews

A Scottish Wedding in St Andrews

It makes me smile when I meet an American who is almost as Scottish as I am – and Andrew is certainly that! Andrew had studied in St Andrews for five years, and embraced every single day of it. He loves Scotland, her traditions, her people, and her culture, so when he brought his fiance, Elaine to visit this beautiful historical city he was delighted when she equally fell in love with it and they made the joint decision that this was where they wanted to host their wedding. Although they had another reception back at home, many of their family and close friends travelled across the pond to join in their celebrations in St Andrews, and it was a complete joy to help them arrange their dream Scottish wedding.

The Wedding

Elaine and Andrew were married in the beautiful University Chapel,  St Salvators, before going down to the famous harbour and walking along the pier with their bridal party for wedding photos. The kind golfers on the Old Course gave them the chance to have that famous picture on the Swilken Bridge that crosses the course.

Guests then made their way from the Chapel to the drinks reception in Hams Hame Pub, which is part of the world famous Old Course Hotel. They had a great private area for their reception and cake cutting, and the evening was then spent in Forgan’s where they had a wedding meal followed by a ceilidh – what else, in Scotland!

It was an absolutely stress free happy fun filled day, and so enjoyable to put it together with Andrew and Elaine – haste ye back you pair, Scotland loves you!
