Planned Elopement
Elopement most literally, merely means “to run away, and to not come back to the point of origination. More specifically, Elopement is often used to refer to a marriage conducted in sudden and secretive fashion, usually involving a hurried flight away from one's place of residence together with one's beloved with the intention of getting married, .a very different meaning today than in the past - Today the term "elopement" is colloquially used for any marriage performed in haste or in private or without a public period of engagement.
There are many couples nowadays who have a “Planned Elopement”, its quite common practise especially for couples coming from overseas – they perhaps want to do a destination wedding, normally making it their combined wedding / honeymoon and when they return home they have a party to celebrate the marriage with their family and friends.
Weddings nowadays can spiral out of control on the guest list and the expense of it and I think US and Irish weddings in particular are traditionally much larger than UK weddings for instance. So if you want to avoid that huge guest list with the ever mounting account to go with it, then this is maybe the way to do it!
Donna and Jason were two such people who wanted to slip away quietly and have a “planned elopement “ we had the most amazing fun with them on their special day. Jason is a full time pilot and Donna a nurse, two full on jobs which take them away from each other at awkward hours and weekends, and so as you can imagine their time spent together was very precious.
They brought along a couple of friends with them, Jenny and Donna had gone to school together and remained friends every since, and Jenny just happened to be a professional photographer. As you can see by the photos Jason and Donna soaked up the atmosphere of the castle and all she had to offer. Donna was as game a bride as I have seen, she donned her new “wellies” and embraced the good Scottish air so she could totally enjoy the snow and not worry about her shoes, this was a day and time she wanted to keep in her memory forever.
They stayed at the castle for a couple of nights – enjoying the tranquility and peace, soaking up the atmosphere and history before embarking on a week’s honeymoon throughout Scotland. We wish them both health and happiness – they were a joy to meet and a joy to work with and we look forward to many years of friendship with them.
