Tom and Emma's Wedding in Scotland

<< Previous | Next >>

Tom and Emmas Scottish WeddingHow honoured were we to be asked to co-ordinate a friend’s daughters wedding! As you can imagine it was fun from the beginning of our planning through to the wedding day – an easy laid back farming family, they all knew exactly what they wanted, we just had to make their dreams come true.

Emma’s parents, having just built their beautiful new home were very keen to Hansel it with their daughters wedding – Tom, Emma’s fiancé, owns and runs his own landscaping business and had spent many hours laying the garden and building beautiful ponds both in the garden and also one in the courtyard.

Let me try and set the scene for you - The house is built around a courtyard, on three sides it has full length windows all round.  The plan was to have an outside / inside space whereby whether you were inside the house, or outside in the marquee, you could see everyone at all times. The marquee company erected a canapé marquee over the whole courtyard which fitted so snugly there was barely an inch either side where it met with the house. Tom and Emma also wanted a French bistro style menu where guests could chill out over several hours eating at their leisure. They wanted that more relaxed, informal style meal, with each table selected their own wines from a central bar station, and everyone was able to peruse all the beautifully presented food in the centre of the marquee. Rustic chunky baskets sat on red gingham cloths filled with a selection of homemade breads, and each table had its own themed cloth in black, white and fuchsia in variations of stripes or big round dots.  Emma and her family run a very successful dried flower business and did all the floral work in the marquee – they had beautiful miniature trees in the marquee which we decorated with trailing white ribbons and white silk  butterflies – and the tables each had a very different arrangement made by Emma’s fair hands, each sat in a black central vase and beautifully decorated with pearls in colours of  oyster and black, so attractive and elegant. All we needed was music from the Moulin Rouge and a few cancan girls and we were definitely in France!

Tom and Emma in ScotlandWith the elegance of the whole theme you can imagine without any problem what the bride looked like – very dainty, wearing the most elegant bridal gown, stunningly attractive, she definitely had the Va Va Voom!

Their religious ceremony was held in their local parish church which in itself is in one of the prettiest villages in the East Neuk of Fife. A lovely service followed by pictures at the church and in a friends beautifully landscaped garden, also done by Tom, down by the loch – great backgrounds for special photos. Guests made their way back to the house for champagne and canapés – to meet with old friends and new and to slip into this gorgeously relaxed setting where the mood was “ time didn’t exist”!

The evening was full entertainment with a DJ – the floor was full all night with cousins, aunts and uncles, mums and dads all having the best party night – in the farming world everyone knows everyone – it had the feelings of a village celebration where everyone came to join in the fun and mark this special occasion of this very special couple.

The garden at night was a mass of twinkling lights, with well over a hundred candles in various vases and glass receptacles, and a chimenia burning in the centre, it was a hive for sitting around telling stories and relaxing. It’s a situation we sometimes find ourselves in, where you never want the day to end – it wasn’t the end for these two lovely people, it was the beginning of their new life together and we whole heartedly loved working with you both, it’s a time we will always remember and look back upon fondly – thank you so much for letting us be a part of your special day, it shall be remembered as one of the greats!

Bride and Groom’s Kind Comments:

Kimmie and George,

We’ve been struggling to find exactly the right words to describe how we feel about our wedding day (apart from awesome, magical and perfect) well, those which would do it justice anyway!

From the moment you ‘came on board’ you instantly brought all the vital necessities to help plan our amazing day – inspiration, professionalism, experience, a calming aura and just simply, great fun.

From a brides point of view I think I could perhaps write a short essay on the merits of having ‘Litu’s services but I will say something that came as the most luxurious of surprises, time!.  They say, you can’t make it stand still and told ‘the day will fly past in the blink of an eye’ which was a rather sad thought after so much planning and excitement.  However on the day, due to everything being in the expert hands of you both and without a worry in the world, the day seemed to take it’s own sweet time (which never happens when you’re panicking – just ask my husband who can’t remember the morning due to attempting to write a speech!!) which to me, was absolutely priceless and would never have been the case had we not had you.

All of our friends are still, 6 months on telling us just how amazing a day it was, from the whole atmosphere, to the chilled out photographers, glorious array of food, great DJ and even the fantastic loo’s get quite a mention!  The day will always be so memorable to us but it appears to have made quite an impression on others which is a lovely thought too.

And so Mr & Mrs B, here’s a massive thanks to you for your kindness, expertise, gentle and persuasive guidance, chocolate fountain making and candle lighting skills… the list could just go on!.  But most of all just for being there for Tom and I and our parents for what was such an exciting year which would have been far more fraught without you.  It was wonderful to have you with us.
