Wedding of Louisa and Justin from California, USA
Louisa and Justin came from California – Justin loved Scotland and had travelled here on several occasions to tour various parts of this wonderful land. This time, for their special day, they chose an area that neither had visited before – the East Neuk of Fife, such a picturesque part of Scotland with a real Portuguese persuasion in the villages, the tiny streets, pan tile roofing and crow step gables.
They both invited friends and family to join them on this very special occasion, and they were all able to stay in one location in villas which made it so easy for them to stay together and make a real holiday out of the trip. They were all so friendly and so excited about this wedding it was lovely to witness.
Louisa had a real dream to travel to church in a horse drawn carriage, and I am happy to say we work with a company who have beautiful horses and carriages who were perfect for Louisa’s dream. She had a Glass carriage with 2 greys to pull it and as you can see from the pictures it was a fairytale come true for her – the weather was perfect, by Scottish standards of course, not Californian (!), the locals loved to see a bride especially arriving for the ceremony in something which was reminding of olden times, it was all so befitting. After a lovely ceremony, the bride and Groom and their families had photos at the historical church, The children at the wedding climbed in and out of the carriage, the little girls truly believing this was a fairytale carriage!
The Bride and Groom travelled back to their venue where they had further pictures taken in the beautiful grounds, everyone was so enjoying what must have been a very different wedding from a Californian one – lots of different traditions, champagne on the lawns with a piper playing in the background, it was one of these days we all remember.
To round off the evening they had a beautiful dinner followed by a Ceilidh – none of the wedding party had every done ceilidh dancing and they had so much fun learning. They did dance into the wee hours, and I hope take many many happy memories away with them. The pair of you are a joy to know – April 1st Wedding, Justin you were nobody’s fool!!
Bride and Groom's kind comments; "We had always known that Scotland was the destination for our wedding, we just were not sure how to make it work from California. As members of RCI, we made it a point to pick a destination that would allow us and our families a place to stay for the week. Once we chose Kilconquhar as the estate to stay, in style consistent with their namesake, Litu did the rest. George and Kimmie were able to suggest the most beautiful and unique kirk for the ceremony and put us into contact with the Reverend straight away. Litu coordinated with the Kilconquhar Estate and was able to get our reception in the ancient Lindsay Room of the castle itself. Every question had an answer nearly as fast as it was asked. George and Kimmie were even kind enough to allow us to ship the wedding dress to their residence in advance. Even though George and Kimmie had arranged for the dress to be pressed, Kimmie was willing to open the dress package and convey to us that a pressing was unnecessary before we even left the States. They took every care to make sure that we did not have a worry about our event. Litu was very helpful with applying for the marriage visa and their instructions were essential in our timing and application. From the moment we hired the services of George and Kimmie, it seemed they were attentive to not only our every concern, but the concerns of all the people involved. One of the groomsman had purchased a kilt that was scheduled for delivery right before our departure. Kimmie waited for us to confirm the receipt of his kilt at the very last minute before she cancelled the kilt hire reservation.
Upon our arrival, everyone at the Kilconquhar Castle Estate knew of our wedding and we were treated with the utmost respect and courtesy. By the time we had met Kimmie and George in person, every wonderful thing we had suspected of them was confirmed. George, a wealth of Scottish wit and knowledge, happened to be a lifelong local of the area we were in and knew the land and people like the back of his hand. Kimmie is endearing, calm and confident and held our hand throughout the event. They both were an absolute pleasure to work with. As a team they were fabulous and ensured every aspect of the event was arranged as we had requested and executed brilliantly. They are both so incredibly friendly and gregarious that you cannot help but attach yourself to them and we hope to stay in contact with them for the rest of our lives.
The day of our wedding was watched with the most careful and loving hands of Kimmie and George. They made certain that the only concern of ourselves and our guests was to have a fantastic time. Even when we attempted to create concern or worry, they had already remedied the issue. Kimmie was even able to step in and beautifully complete my bow tie that I was struggling with. After the ceremony, they were present during the entire photography session and even were willing to demonstrate a few candid moments that we will always cherish. Only when we were in the thralls of digesting of our amazing meal did Kimmie and George take the liberty of saying their goodbyes.
We had guests at our wedding from as far as Adelaide, Australia and as close as Northumberland and everywhere in between. We had numerous children under the age of four and guests that only spoke French. Everyone who attended our wedding concluded that it was the most lovely wedding they had ever seen. Everything was spot on and perfect. From Jimmy the pipe major, to the double white horse drawn glass carriage. From the subtle harpist to the professional photographer and videographer. Everything exceeded our most vivid imaginations and the entire evening culminated with the unforgettable ceilidh dancing. It is a foregone conclusion that even a single aspect of this event would not have been possible without the services of George and Kimmie and Litu. Our most eternal gratitude to Litu and its proprietors George and Kimmie for making the most unforgettable day of our life just that....absolutely unforgettable."
