Wedding of Julie and Jason
As luck would have it, Julie and Jason were up from the south visiting Dalhousie Castle as they had strong connections with the area and wanted to host their wedding at the castle – we happened to also be in Dalhousie that same day, and the rest as they say is history! Julie’s family had originally come from the Bonnyrigg area, and to this day some relatives still remain there, and so there was a strong pull for them to come back to their roots. Julie’s family now live in France, and Jason’s close family in Greece and so I can imagine the joy they all felt when Jason and Julie decided this was the venue for the wedding.
It was a busy year for both of them – not only did they have their wedding to plan, but also moving of jobs and moving to their new home, three of the most stressful things in life. However they both took it in their stride, we all knuckled down and we not only had lots of fun in the planning, but we all had a fantastic wedding day. I say we, because its so important the team around the bride and groom all have the same spirit, attitude, and common goal – we are all there to make this the most enjoyable day the couple and their families can have and unless you all pull together its not attainable.
Guests were welcomed to the Castle by Falconers with two lovely friendly birds, a Steppe Eagle and a Peregrine Falcon, all very befitting for a castle venue. Later on the guests were treated to a full falconry display while the bridal party had their photos, a very interesting and informative hour for everyone prior to the wedding breakfast. There were nothing but good comments about the wedding feast and the wine, which had been carefully selected and brought over from France.
The day had been a lovely happy family day, all getting together for one of those special rare moments when friends and family travel from the corners of the globe for a celebration - dancing took them through to the small hours when everyone went home content after a great day.
We will miss working with you all but cherish the memories and look forward to staying in touch with you all.
Bride and Groom's parents kind comments; "As parents of the bride we would like to say how much we appreciated the helpfulness, efficiency and kindness of everyone involved in our daughter and Jason's wedding at Dalhousie. Dinner in the Dungeon restaurant the evening prior to the wedding was perfect, setting the ambiance for the big day. Congratulations to the chef and personnel for a memorable evening shared with family and friends from afar. The day planned at least one year in advance dawned in beautiful sunshine and was perfect from then on (except for the odd Scottish shower?!) which certainly didn't dampen the festivities!
Dalhousie Castle is a truly memorable venue for a magical wedding full of Scottish hospitality and traditions. There has to be a special mention for Ted, the little owl who delivered the rings so beautifully to to the happy couple in the chapel, enthralling all the gues ts with his prowess! My husband and I were back at Dalhousie recently and seeing Ted again brought back memories of a truly memorable, unique and happy day at Dalhousie for all of us. A special thank you to Kimmie and George of Litù for ensuring this was a wonderful and unforgettable day in our lives.
