Wedding of James and Nicky
Every wedding we co-ordinate is a real honour and privilege for us to be a part of, but when you have known the groom from his early teenage years at school, and his best man is your nephew, it immediately puts a special tag to the day!! James and Ollie, had been best mates throughout their school years in Edinburgh and so to be asked to help Nicky and James with their plans was and real treat and such a pleasure for us.
James and Nicky live and work in London and I believe they found it invaluable to have us on the ground in Scotland, suggesting all the various suppliers and pulling all the details together as we went through the months – it also saved them precious free time having to travel north, as we were able to cover the details and decisions over the phone and through email. Email is such an easy fast tool, and can cut out endless hours in so many different ways for all of us.
The wedding ceremony was held on the banks of the Tay at Dunkeld Cathedral – an awe-inspiring location and venue and one that was special to James and Nicky. It was a cold day but spirits were high as all their friends and families gathered for this great occasion. James’ family hail from the West Coast and Nicky’s from the south of England so it was a real coming together of North and South. The bride travelled to the church in a vintage Rolls, she looked totally amazing as she stepped out at the church surrounded by her equally stunning bridesmaids – the colours were beautiful.
Inside the church a harp and flute welcomed their guests, and outside a piper was standing by to pipe his bride to the church door. Its a signal to the guests the bride is arriving and you can hear that flurry of excitement as everyone turns to see the bride in all her glory. Nicky was so elegant – tall and slender, she was an absolute picture of beauty, and James knew he was the luckiest man on earth today when he saw his bride walk down the aisle.
After a lovely ceremony, the guests were driven to Scone Palace and the bridal party remained for photos in the stunning grounds and ruins of the old cathedral before making their way to Scone Palace. As ever Scone was stunning – it’s a beautiful site for guests who have never been, the long drive through the policy parks, the palace is steeped in history, it has beautiful antiques and paintings, and its relaxed and informal style gives the impression of a house party – exactly what James and Nicky wanted to portray to their guests, and exactly what drew them to this venue. The Long Gallery was truly amazing and the wow factor when they opened the door for dinner was breathtaking.
Good fayre, grand wines, good company and great speeches – it set the tone for the evening. After dinner the bride and groom opened the dancing with an ‘Orkadian Strip the Willow” a great ice breaker for anyone who had never done ceilidh dancing and it was so befitting for a couple who are full of fun and wanted everyone to join in with them. I know everyone who attended James and Nicky’s wedding will have resounding memories of the most fantastic, generous and fun filled day which they laid on for everyone – I know we had the most fantastic fun all the way through – we are so lucky to do something we love doing and with people we love doing it with.
Bride and Groom's kind comments; "From start to finish the service George and Kimmie provided was exceptional and we had so much fun working with them. They are such a kind and friendly couple and nothing was ever to much trouble.
In our opinion planning a wedding requires a specialist. So many of our friends have had incredibly stressful build ups to their weddings and made a number of mistakes along the way and we really didn’t want to take such big risks for what will always be one of the most important days of our lives.
The vast experience and knowledge that George and Kimmie have built over the years was invaluable to us. We always felt totally involved in the planning of our wedding and we made all the decisions safe in the knowledge that they were the right ones because we were able to access far more information than we would have been able to on our own by drawing on the experience of George and Kimmie. We both lead busy lives in London and it was such a benefit to have so much of the time consuming leg work done for us and knowing that George and Kimmie were always one step ahead of the game.
We never felt at all stressed in the build up to the wedding or on the day itself because having George and Kimmie there gave us such security and confidence that everything was under control and running smoothly. This was so important to us and ensured we could just enjoy everything. So many guests commented on this and it added to their enjoyment too.
The day was perfect in every way as was the whole weekend. We never could have imagined it going so well and still talk about what an amazing day it was with all of our friends and family. So much of this was down to the way George and Kimmie recognised our exact requirements and pulled together all the suppliers that they knew would meet our expectations. To be able to get everything right from the finer details such as flowers and favours to such intangible things as the atmosphere and the buzz created on the day really requires an expert and is something we would have struggled to do on our own.
Thanks again for making our wedding absolutely perfect in every way for us and all of our guests."
