Wedding of Iona & Oli
Spring is one of the nicest times to be married – still a nip in the air but with it brings lovely fresh colours, different flower choices and a spring fever of excitement.
Oli and Iona both live and work in London, and naturally being a Scot, Iona wanted to come back to her homeland to marry amongst her family and friends. As ever, when in this kind of scenario, distance can pose a problem for Brides – its not practical to keep flying up and down to deal with the ever important arrangements, it also adds expense, and so they decided to seek some help and we were delighted when they asked us to come on board with them to assist in planning their special day.
Iona and her family had already booked Ballathie House hotel for the wedding – a beautiful country house set on the banks of the famous River Tay, the longest and most renowned salmon river in Scotland. Early on the wedding morning the gentlemen of the bridal party took to the river, and considering the brightness of the day, were highly successful in their venture, an experience they will never forget, especially on a wedding morning – what a day to catch salmon, “the king of all fish”, and on such a beautiful river, it was the perfect beginning to an amazing day!
The Groom and his Best man departed for the church in a smart MGB which looked amazing, and was a particular love of Oli’s – Iona and her father travelled in a Classic Jaguar. They had a beautiful ceremony – such an amazing little country church with a rich wood interior, twin aisles, quite typical of rural Scottish church’s, and beautiful flowers to compliment Iona and Oli’s theme. After the ceremony guests were lucky enough to enjoy the sunshine and have their drinks on the lawns at Ballathie listening to a jazz trio – children played happily, and guests were having fun catching up with old and new friends - what better way to spend a spring day, this is surely what a wedding’s all about.
Iona and Oli beamed all day, both so happy to be among their friends and family to celebrate such a special occasion. The marquee looked superb, the champagne and sage green theme was most refreshing, so befitting for the time of year, and both Iona and Oli had spent a lot of time with the finite details carrying the theme through the day. The staff at Ballathie were superb throughout, no stone left unturned, and all extremely welcoming and helpful – the presentation, quality and service of the meal was superb and from all of our prospective we had a great rapport which made for easy planning. After the wedding breakfast, a live band kept everyone on the dance floor and entertained until the small hours, it was the perfect ending to a perfect day. Oli and Iona had such gorgeous families, who all treated us like family, and we felt very honoured to be selected for such a special occasion. We can’t wait to see you all again!
Bride and Groom's parents kind comments; "The wedding was at Kinclaven church, followed by a reception in a marquee at Ballathie house Hotel on the banks of the River Tay, to the north of Perth. Our daughter and her husband to be, Oli, were trying to organise a wedding in Scotland from their home in London. They both work long hours and had demanding jobs. This made it very difficult to find the time to organise the wedding. We truly believe the best move they made was to then appoint George and Kimmie to co-ordinate and organise the big day. We were introduced to a charming couple who have an incredible amount of experience of organising successful, tasteful weddings.
Never pushy, they quickly gained an understanding of the kind of day Iona had in mind.
Due to their vast experience they were able to recommend reliable, top drawer services, from flower providers, to pipers, to nannies—we had eleven children under four years old on the day,-- with sound advice about every aspect of the event. The great thing from our point of view was that they are so easy to communicate with, and e-mails sent by us even at 10pm were likely to be replied to immediately! They demonstrated that they genuinely cared, and emphasised the fact that they would be there on the day, in the background, ensuring that everything went smoothly. George and Kimmie established an excellent relationship with the Hotel, which was to the benefit of all concerned, and commented on by the Hotel Manager. The result was that everyone had a fantastic day and many of the guests commented on the relaxed atmosphere and how well organised it all was. Quite a few commented that it was the best wedding they had ever been to! Litu are exactly what they set out to be, and could not be more conscientious or kind.
Their taste is impeccable, and their portfolio of tried and tested contacts is invaluable.
And last but not least---they are really good fun! Ewen and Jeanette Mackay."
