Wedding of Douglas and Dolina
It's not very often we start the plans rolling with the Groom, but when we first spoke to Douglas he was very sure of what he and his fiancé Dolina had in their minds for their wedding day – their thoughts were of a very intimate day with family and close friends, somewhere that would be totally relaxed and flexible, and somewhere exclusive to them for a couple of days, perhaps a country house or a castle with a house party feel to it! There were options to fit that description, but there was no better judgement than for them to fly north and meet with us for the day which we spent visiting several venues and finally ending up north at Drumtochty Castle. I think they both knew whenever they set foot in the door this was to be their perfect location it had all the right criteria, the ambiance, the "highland wedding appeal" fantastic location and with a lovely church at the end of the driveway, what more could they ask for.
That decision made, we then set forth to build a team of suppliers around them who would not only give them a fun day, but who would give them the quality and service they were looking for – we are so lucky to have so many wonderful suppliers who support us and our clients and who often go above and beyond their call. We had talked at length to Douglas and Dolina about their wishes so it was easy to select the respective suppliers for them - We all know how important a wedding day is and to build a team spirit is so important.
Douglas and Dolina took the castle over for 2 days so once everyone arrived the day before the wedding, they immediately settled and felt relaxed, having a light supper in the evening meant everyone met both sides of the family before the wedding, such a nice way to begin a special occasion.
Douglas was chilled and rallied his friends the morning of the wedding for a run and Dolina and the girls relaxed in their room with the beautician and hair stylist – they were all totally relaxed which meant when the photographers arrived they got some classic easy shots of everyone being responsive to his lens and really enjoying the whole experience.
The Groom set off on foot with his bestman and ushers for the church – great way to shake off any of those nerves, while the bride was driven in a Beautiful white Rolls Royce. Douglas and Dolina were exceptionally lucky to have Dolinas uncle marry them, he gave the most gorgeous memorable ceremony which everyone thoroughly enjoyed.
The guests were all coached back to the castle where they enjoyed a drinks and canapé reception. One of the most important aspects to the bride and groom was the catering, they were very specific about what they wanted to serve their guests, but they were in very capable hands with their caterer who had been a family friend for many years – the presentation of the menu was superb.
Douglas and ourselves, had a little secret unbeknown to Dolina – after dinner while the evening entertainment was being set up, all the guests were asked to go to the front of the castle where a superb fireworks display took place, Drumtochty sits snugly up a glen so the noise and lights from the fireworks were terrific, but that wasn’t all - Douglas was really keen to surprise Dolina after we suggested he had a Beating Retreat – we hid a full pipe band of 23 pipers and drummers down the driveway and on queue with the last firework they marched through a pall of smoke to the absolute delight of the Bride and her guests where they entertained them for 15 minutes – its such an amazing sight, and something I am sure will stay in their memories forever. We are so lucky to be asked to be a part of any Bride and Groom’s special day – its one of the most important days in anyone’s personal life and to be involved in every aspect of that is a true privilege for us both, its something we take very seriously and we put in 110% to make sure every “i” is dotted and every “t” is crossed. This truly was a special day, a special wedding for us to be a part of, thanks to both of you, we loved every moment with you both and hope to keep in touch for years to come.
Bride and Groom's kind comments; "“After meeting Kimmie & George for the first time we knew that they were the right people to help us organise our wedding. With their wealth of experience and obvious close relationships and mutual respect with all of their suppliers they became trusted advisors in helping us select the right people to supply us with everything we needed to make our wedding celebration extra special. From sourcing the perfect venue of Drumtochty castle to the flowers, ceilidh band, photographer, fireworks and pipe band everything was organised superbly. I am sure Kimmie and George were there dashing around behind the scenes to ensure everything was perfect on the day but if there was any stress you couldn’t tell, they were relaxed and in control the whole time.
We could not recommend Kimmie and George highly enough if you are looking for assistance in organising your wedding. They are extremely professional, honest, hard working and dedicated and made us feel relaxed that everything had been taken care of so we could focus our attention on enjoying the day with our family and friends.
We didn’t have a worry in the world that day, everything was perfect and our wedding celebrations were more than we could have ever imagined.
A million thanks Kimmie & George - Worth every penny!!"
